Welcome to eat+art+word. My name is Sonya Gropman. I am a visual artist who loves food in all its myriad forms – to taste, cook, grow, read about, talk about and to look at. I am very involved in the local CSA (community supported agriculture) in my neighborhood of New York City. I started this blog as a way to record my notes, observations and musings about the edible things around me, both from a gastronomic perspective, as well as a visual one.
Thanks for stopping by, I hope you enjoy your visit. I would love to hear from you.

Great website………..absolutely love the “SPLAT” street ice cream!
The rumpot you mentioned was made by my sister-in-law Marilyn about 20-something years ago when I was out visiting her in San Diego. Apparently she had made it a few times before and enjoyed it very much. When December rolls around and you open your pot and indulge………make sure you’re not the designated driver that night………..and invite friends that you really like to spend time with………they will most likely become your houseguests.

    Hi Tarte Titou,
Thanks for stopping by, so glad you like my blog! Glad to discover another JH blog, ours is lovely as well. The tomato bread soup in particular caught my eye, just in time for the end of tomato season!

This is COOL! My family has a tendency to take pictures of food, but not as pretty as these. What a neat blog.

Nice blog, glad I found it. Especially love the simplicity of your pictures, really focusing on the essence of each dish. Really cool.
